SALISBURY — Matthew Weaver has been appointed as the new upper-school principal at North Hills Christian School.

Weaver will replace 27-year veteran Leslie Pullen, who is retiring.

The announcement brought to conclusion a monthlong interview process for the leadership team. Weaver will assume his new responsibilities effective July 1.

“Weaver has played an important role in many of the changes that have occurred at North Hills during his four years with the school,” said Maria Lowder, executive director. “His knowledge and passion for the school makes him particularly well suited for his new leadership role.”

Weaver, a popular teacher with the students, is well-versed and passionate about the classical Christian curriculum taught at North Hills, school officials said. He has a vision for how the school can continue to advance the classical programs offered to the school’s middle and high school students, they added.

In addition to a gift for improving student outcomes, school official said, he has a passion for serving the Lord and leading others in their journey with him.

Weaver most recently served as guidance counselor for the upper school and made significant improvements helping students prepare for life after high school. He has taught high school Latin and apologetics, as well as Summit, a course unique to Christian schools designed to encourage and teach students how to think critically and articulate their point of view.

School leaders say he has been a champion for collaborative change as leadership continues to improve the academic and spiritual experience of the school.

In his new role, Weaver will be focused on the needs of the middle and high school. He will mentor and develop teachers, provide guidance to students, implement curriculum enhancements and help all students reach their potential.

North Hills Christian School is a nondenominational college-preparatory Christian day school serving students in junior kindergarten through high school.
