Cokie Roberts and Steven V. Roberts are right on with their column, “Defending the rule of law,” published Saturday, June 10.

We also need to look at the damage being done quietly by the backwards-led GOP Congress and the appointees of this wayward president. These other entities are dismantling and down-grading our entire government as the president tweets and rants on.

While the investigation into the Russia election tampering continues, I fear the process that is already taking place is taking the U.S. to a place from which we will never recover.

I believe the court system will prevail in maintaining the rule of law spoken to by the Robertses: I do not think that will take care of this other destruction taking place, however. I do not see a bright future for our democratic country.
