Love Christian Center hosts guest speaker

EAST SPENCER — Pastor Donald Morgan will speak at Love Christian Center, 102 N. Long St., on Sunday at 10 a.m.

Pastor Morgan is a 1970-graduate of the James E. Sheppard High School in Zebulon, a 1980-graduate of the Shaw Divinity School in Raleigh and a 1993-graduate of the Interdenominational Theological Center, Atlanta, Ga. Pastor Morgan is currently pastor of the First Congregation United Church of Christ Red Oak, Ia. Host pastor is Bishop Ronald Hash.

Heritage Day at Providence UMC

Providence United Methodist Church, 6450 Bringle Ferry Road, celebrates Heritage Day on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. This is Providence’s annual celebration of their heritage and roots in the community as well as a celebration of the Fourth of July. There is just one service on Sunday, followed by a cookout and annual horseshoe tournament. Host pastor is Aldana Allen.

Faith Temple Triumphant revival

EAST SPENCER — Faith Temple Triumphant Ministries, 900 Pinetree Drive, will have the third of its six Sunday Afternoon Revival Series this week at 3 p.m. Pastor Clarence Marlin of Fairview Height Baptist Church will be the revival preacher. Host pastor is Dr. Henry C. Diggs.

Womens’s Day at New Zion Baptist 

Annual Women’s Day will be observed at new Zion Baptist Church, 2785 Dunn’s Mountain Road, on Sunday at 3 p.m. Guest speaker will be Congresswoman Alma S. Adams of the 12th Congressional District of North Carolina. Dress color is white, and ladies are asked to wear hats if possible. Host pastor is the Rev. V. Patrick Jones.

Dr. Adams was elected to her second term representing the 12th Congressional District of NC on Nov. 8, 2016. After winning a special election in November 2014, Congresswoman Adams was sworn in as the 100th woman elected to Congress. Representative Adams sits on several committees and holds several leadership positions as well, including Assistant Whip for the Democratic Caucus.

Oak Grove Baptist aniversary service

CHINA GROVE — The missionaries at Oak Grove Baptist Church, 1205 S. Main St., will observe their anniversary on Sunday at 3 p.m. Guest speaker will be Pastor Joyce Williams, associate at Rhema Praise and Worship Church, Spencer. Host pastor is the Rev. Dr. Keith Curry.

Mt. Zion Missionary joint celebration 

On Sunday at 4 p.m. Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Salisbury and Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Asheville will come together for a joint celebration. Speaking will be Dr. John H. Grant, pastor of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Asheville. The joint fellowship will take place at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 1920 Shirley Ave. Dr. Nilous M. Avery II, is host pastor.

Dr. Grant, pastor of Mount Zion, is the founding president of the Unity Fellowship of Churches Inc., and holds a B.A. from Benedict College, Columbia, S.C.; master of divinity from Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School, Rochester, N.Y.; and doctor of ministry from Atlanta Theological Association through Erskine Theological Seminary.

Patriotic music at Blackwelder Park 

KANNAPOLIS — On Sunday at 5 p.m. Blackwelder Park Baptist Church, 2204 Summit Ave., will host a musical freedom celebration entitled: “America! A Pilgrim’s Prayer; A Patriot’s Dream.”

The musical combines patriotic songs with gospel classics to celebrate the freedom in Christ and in America, featuring a special salute to veterans, honoring each branch of the United States Military.

Local community performers and members of the Piedmont Primetime Community Band will join the Blackwelder Park Baptist Church Choir and Praise Band for the musical production.

11th Hour at Homestead Baptist

KANNAPOLIS — The 11th Hour Gospel Singers will be at Homestead Baptist Church, corner of West 22 St. and North Main St., on Sunday at 6 p.m.

Refuge Church of God in Christ offers free lunches to students

A record 21.7 million American kids get free or reduced-price lunch while in school. When summer vacation starts, many students go without food for the entire day. Refuge Church of God in Christ is partnering with the U.S. Department of Agriculture in providing free lunch to students 18 years or younger, served on Mondays and Tuesdays beginning on July 10, until school starts back. Two special services at Neel Road Baptist 

On Sunday at 6 p.m. at Neel Road Baptist Church, 135 Neel Road, the Student Ministry Mission Team will share about their recent mission trip to Washington, D.C via a special 20-minute documentary-style video. They ministered to more than 220 souls, representing 16 different countries.

On Tuesday, July 11 at 5:45 p.m., Jeremy Bullard will be the guest speaker. Jeremy seeks to communicate the gospel cross-culturally to least-reached people groups.

After completing a seminary degree in Old Testament, he and his wife Susie served together in Jordan among the Muslim population for six years. Jeremy taught English at a Language Institute which enabled him to meet locals and deepen his knowledge of Arabic. They have also served together in Paris and are now serving in Holland.

Jeremy and his family live Badhoevedorp across from Tyndale Theological Seminary and teaches Hebrew in the Old Testament Department. He is enrolled at Vrije University, studying to get a PhD in Old Testament and is active in the Arab community in Amsterdam.

UMA revival at T.O.P.

United Ministerial Alliance of Salisbury-Rowan will host its annual revival at the Tower of Power United Holy Church, 601 E. Cemetery St. Wednesday through Friday, July 12 -14 at 7 p.m. nightly. The Rev. Damien M. Mason is the host pastor. Bishop W. Ronald Hash serves as president of the UMA The guest revivalist is Bishop J. C. Hash Sr., senior pastor of St. Peter’s Church and World Outreach Center in Winston-Salem.

A graduate of Rhema Bible Training Center in Tulsa, OK, Dr. Hash holds a bachelor of theology degree and an honorary doctorate of divinity from Union Christian Bible Institute in Durham.

In My Father’s House

In My Father’s House, led by the Rev. Roosevelt Jenkins, meets the first two Thursdays of each month from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. The next service will be July 14 in the Hurley Room at Rowan Public Library. In My Father’s House is hosting community awareness services. A special invitation is extended to pastors, councilwomen and councilmen, firemen, first responders, community advocates, the mayor, widows and widowers, parents and the elderly.
