SALISBURY — As filing for municipal elections continued Friday, the Salisbury City Council race gained the largest number of candidates.

Three people — two challengers and an incumbent — filed for seats on the council.

Meanwhile, two people joined the town board race in East Spencer, two joined Rockwell’s contest and one person filed for the East Spencer Board of Aldermen.

The seven people who filed in a municipal race Friday are:

• Leda Belk, a challenger running for the Salisbury City Council. Belk previously served on the Rowan County Board of Commissioners.

• Patricia Jones “PJ” Ricks, a challenger running for the Salisbury council.

• David Post, an incumbent running for re-election to the Salisbury council.

• Phronice Johnson, an incumbent running for re-election to the East Spencer Board of Aldermen

• Tony Jerome Hillian, a challenger running for the East Spencer board.

• Chuck Bowman, an incumbent running for re-election to the Rockwell Board of Aldermen.

• Stephenie Walker, an incumbent running for re-election to the Rockwell board.

• Sharon Hovis, a challenger running for the Spencer Board of Aldermen. Hovis is the police chief in East Spencer.
