Patriot Day observance Monday 9-11 at Resurrection Life

Resurrection Life Church, 627 Newsome Road, will observe National Patriot Day on Monday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m.

The National Day of Service and Remembrance occurs on 9-11 each year in memory of the 2,996 people killed in the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks in New York City, Arlington, Va. and Shanksville, Pa. “Cry Out America” is this year’s theme. Liberty UMC Homecoming

Woman’s Day at Word of Life

Christ Episcopal’s 196th homecoming

CLEVELAND — Christ Episcopal Church, Old US 70, will celebrate its 196th anniversary on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Sarah Blaies, priest, will speak, followed by a picnic lunch in the shelter. Sally Bradley will serve as reader and Daryl Diamond, LEM. Organist is Debbie Fraley. The first church was organized in 1817 in a log building by the Rev. Robert Johnstone Miller, who became the first rector of the church. Sometime prior to 1826, a fire destroyed the church. Ebenezer Lutheran’s 150th anniversary 

Ebenezer Lutheran Church celebrates its 150th anniversary year on Sunday with guest pastor Darrell Norris. A “son-in-law” of Ebenezer, Pastor Norris married Kathy Liles at Ebenezer Lutheran in 1981. Kathy’s parents and extended family are long-time Ebenezer members. Pastor Norris currently serves at Bethel. Outside service at Organ Lutheran

Organ Lutheran Church, 1515 Organ Church Road, will hold services outside in the picnic shelter on Sunday, Sept. 17 at 10:30 a.m. with lunch provided after. On Sunday, Sept. 24 at 8:30 a.m. they will hold early service in the New Church, and will hold regular service at 10:30 a.m.

Neel Road Baptist hosts project recap

The GAs have completed their Christmas in August project, having collected school supplies as well as gift cards for use by two Baptist Home Missionaries.

They heard from two of the West Rowan Bible Teachers Association in August and will be collecting donations during the September to help support this program.

For the next two weeks, they will be putting together hygiene kits for distribution by the NC Baptist Disaster Relief team. They provide mobile kitchens, shower units, laundry units, bunk units, generators and other assistance. For example, 24 volunteers worked in Sanford on Friday night following the tornado there. In Texas, the Manna 1 feeding unit, a shower unit, feeding team, food and 3 recovery teams are hard at work. In Beaumont Texas, they have no potable water, so a tanker has been provided for them.
