Letter: Washer and dryer idea is creative

When I read the story about Anita Curry’s efforts to purchase a washer and dryer at Knox Middle School, I thought what a great idea and that I should send a contribution.
Then I promptly forgot about the project until I read Lea Silverburg’s letter to the editor in which she challenged former Knox teachers to contribute to this project. So as a former teacher at Knox some 50 years ago, I wrote a check and mailed it to Ms. Curry and would suggest that others who can contribute to do so.
Ms. Curry and others are to be commended for both creative and common-sense ways to keep students in school, and providing a way for parents and students to wash and dry their school uniforms is certainly a sensible solution to providing clean clothes to wear to school. Students can’t learn if they are not present!
