Area briefs: Rampage at home on Saturday

Published 12:00 am Friday, August 1, 2008

From staff reports
The Rowan Rampage semipro football team will get to play a home game on Saturday because recent storms created field issues for the Monroe Mustangs, a new entry in the 12-team Central Carolina Football League.
Rowan, coming off an exciting 15-14 victory over the Triangle Rattlers in its opener, will play Monroe at 4 p.m. Saturday at Knox Middle School.
Monroe lost 21-0 to the Carolina Bulldogs last week.
Admission is free for ages 13-under. Adults are asked to make a $2 donation or to bring school supplies (no minimum and no maximum) that will be distributed to local students by the Rampage.
The Rampage squad is led by former college standouts such as quarterback D’Andre Hopper (Livingstone) and running back Rodney Wallace (Catawba) and receiver Justin Davis (West Rowan, Western Carolina).
