Responders deserve thanks for service
I want to thank the men and women who are the firemen and paramedics of this community; especially the ones who came to our home on June 1.
My husband had knee surgery May 20. and developed heart problems requiring an eight-day hospitalization. On Sunday, four days after coming home, he was obviously in distress, and I called 911. I told the dispatcher he was in atrial fibrillation.
In no time, it seemed, the two firemen from Bostian Heights arrived and then the paramedics. Their quick response, assessment of the situation, action, expertise and concern saved my husband’s life. Our sons and I are certain of that.
My husband only remembers the firemen coming in and then being aware of zooming down I-85 in the ambulance, but he says he knows they saved his life.
I do not know all their names, but one paramedic was Reid Overcash and one fireman was the chief. They are angels here on Earth. These men and women often put their lives on the line for others and are there every day for us. We all need to be thankful for them and support them.
Thanks from the bottom of our hearts is not enough, but thanks a million times. May God be with each and every one of you and protect you every day.

They showed they cared at crucial time
Recently my husband passed away at our home in Granite Quarry. When 911 was called, as they had been many times to our home, they arrived within three minutes. They knew of my husband’s medical condition and that I was his caregiver.
The men who arrived were Terry Moore, Sean Dunham, Mark Troublefield and Kevin Stroble, plus Officer Charlie Beeker of the Granite Quarry Police Department.
After my husband was pronounced dead, Officer Beeker, Fire Department members Terry Moore and Sean Dunham stayed with me until family members could arrive. They would not leave my side and even informed my husband’s family for me.
I don’t know how to sufficiently express my appreciation to the men and women of the Granite Quarry Fire and Police Departments, except to do what I’m doing here.
They are my heroes, and I will never forget their kindness and compassion.
