Duke incentives good deal for Rowan
Regarding the Rowan County Commission’s approval of incentives for Duke Energy:
This is good news for the people of Rowan County. Thanks to the three commissioners who voted for the incentives. This is big money in the bank for all of the taxpayers of Rowan County.
I think Commissioner Arnold Chamberlain made clear that this was a very good package. He was one of the three who voted yes, along with Jon Barber and Chad Mitchell.
When it comes time to vote, remember that Jim Sides and Tina Hall voted “no” on the incentives.
Sides and Hall could get even with Duke on this ó and have their power at home turned off.

Thanks for the laugh
In this time of bad news, sad news and not-so-good news, what a delight to read in Tuesday’s newspaper (Aug. 5) the article “Confessions of a watermelon thief,” so hilariously written by Alvin Park.
I laughed so hard I could hardly finish one sentence before breaking up laughing at the next sentence.
Laughter is healing, and I got a good dose of it.
Thanks, Alvin, for a laughing good time.
