Before the N.C. General Assembly adjourned last week, Rowan County’s legislators received appointments to interim committees.
Included in the list of appointments was a chairmanship for one local legislator and a vice chairmanship for another.
In the Senate, Sen. Dan Barrett, R-34, was named to two joint legislative committees — local government and administrative procedure oversight.
Sen. Tom McInnis, R-25, was named chairman of the Joint Legislative Committee on Local Government and a member of the joint committees on the lottery and transportation.
In the House, Rep. Carl Ford, R-76, was appointed to the Joint Legislative Committee on General Government.
Rep. Harry Warren, R-77, was appointed vice chairman of the joint committee on unemployment insurance oversight and a member of the joint committee on elections.
In a news release, Senate Leader Phil Berger said the committees will meet once a month or fewer times until the General Assembly returns in 2018 for its short session.
