Pair charged in hit-and-run that killed two in Concord

CONCORD — Two young men have been charged in connection with a hit-and-run double fatality on Concord Parkway Saturday night.

The victims, who have yet to be identified, were two teenage boys, ages 14 and 15. According to police, they were hit around 10:19 p.m. while crossing the parkway near Liske Avenue.

Witnesses described a light-colored vehicle leaving the scene, and a deputy found the vehicle abandoned nearby. Police officers subsequently located the driver and passenger.

Driver Francisco Daniel Marin-Gonzalez, 21, of Bluebill Drive, is charged with felony hit-and-run, felony death by vehicle and duty to stop and render reasonable assistance.

Passenger Mark Anthony Gutierrez-Santos, 19, of McGill Avenue, is charged with duty to stop in event of a crash and render reasonable assistance.

“Concord Police Department would like to express our gratitude for witnesses that came forward and contacted police in this extremely tragic event,” the department press release said.
