F.A.C.T. (Families and Communities Together) will have its monthly Blessing of the Children Worship Service is today at 5 p.m. at Moore’s Chapel AME Zion Church, 500 Partee St. The theme is “Are You, Fall-O-Ween Jesus?” The object lesson will be presented by Angellica Sweat, Hood Theological Seminary student. A Trunk or Treat segment will be held in the parking where cars will be decorated with biblical scenes and children and youth are asked to dress as biblical characters.

Art and Soul artist at Christ UMC

Art and Soul artist Stephanie Burke will share her special gift by painting a picture during worship service at Christ United Methodist Church, 3401 Mooresville Road, on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. The praise team and pianist will provide music, and Stephanie will witness through her inspirational painting. A meal follows the service and you may even have a chance to try your hand at painting.

 Jerusalem Baptist celebrates Women’s Day

SPENCER — Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1570 Long St. Ext., will celebrate Women’s Day on Sunday during the 11 a.m. service.

The speaker will be Salisbury native Valarie D. Watkins. She holds a business degree from Salisbury Business College and is employed at Freightliner. Special music will be provided by an all-female choir under the direction of Keith Holland.

All women are asked to wear white. The highlight of the program will be naming the 2017 Women of the Year. Rev. Dr. David L. Bracken is host pastor.

Rhema Praise and Worship homecoming

SPENCER — Rhema Praise and Worship Church, 117 Long Ferry Road, is having its homecoming and revival beginning Sunday. Rev. Alonza Williams Sr. is bringing the 11 a.m. sermon.

Rev. Dr. Dairl Scott Sr., pastor of New Hope AMEZ in Lewisville is bringing the Sunday evening service at 3 p.m..

Rev. Dairl Scott Junior, pastor of Center Grove AMEZ, Tobaccoville, will be running the revival on Monday through Wednesday, Oct. 16-18 at 7 p.m. nightly. Pastor Alonza Williams Sr. is host Pastor.

Eastwood Baptist homecoming

KANNAPOLIS — Homecoming service at Eastwood Baptist 320 Cook St., is at 11 a.m. on Sunday. Pastor Steven Cline will speak and a covered dish meal will follow the service.

The annual car show will be held Oct. 21 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Food will available for purchase and proceeds go to the church building fund.

Miller’s Chapel’s 143rd anniversary

Miller’s Chapel AME Zion Church, 920 Miller’s Chapel Road, will observe its 143rd church anniversary on Sunday at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. The 11 a.m. preacher is the pastor, Rev. Hezekiah Lawson. The 3 p.m. preacher will be Rev. Harold Jordan, pastor of Third Creek AME Zion Church, Cleveland. Lunch will be served at 1:30 p.m.

Trinity Presbyterian celebrates Women’s Day

Trinity Presbyterian Church USA, 300 South Caldwell St., will celebrate its annual Women’s Day on Sunday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Dr. Alberta McLaughlin will speak on “We’ve Come This Far by Faith: 150 Years the Presbyterian Woman, The Glue That Holds the Church Together.”

Dr. McLaughlin works as a Day Treatment Teacher at Henderson Independent High with middle school students. She holds degrees from the College of New Rochelle, Shaw University and United Theological Seminary, Dayton, Ohio.

Immanuel Lutheran assists Organ Lutheran Ministry

ROCKWELL — On Sunday Immanuel Lutheran Church will begin a new BLITZ (Bring Lots of Items to Zap…hunger, poverty, etc.) Collection for the Organ Lutheran Outreach Ministries. Cans of corn, fruit, green beans, green peas, carrots and potatoes will be collected during the service and can be brought to Immanuel any time between Sunday and Wednesday. The Outreach Ministry is open 9-10 a.m. Thursdays and is located on Organ Church Road.

Crown In Glory

On Harvest Home Sunday Oct. 22, host pastor, Rev. Donald Anthony, will speak at the 9 a.m. service. Lunch will be served from 1-2:30 p.m.

The praise service begins at 3 p.m. with worship at 3:30 p.m. led by Rev. Samuel Cosby of Grace Lutheran Church, Greensboro. Music will be provided by the Crown In Glory choir and guest singers/musicians from the community. Phyllis Partee is director of music services.

Pancake breakfast fund raiser

Gloria Dei will host a pancake breakfast fund raiser Saturday, Oct. 21. Donations will be accepted to help a church family who is experiencing unforeseen, ongoing medical expenses. Pancakes, sausage, bacon, coffee, juice, and tea will be served in the fellowship hall from 6:30- 10:30 a.m. Parking is behind the church located at 1908 Statesville Blvd.
