The speaker for the 5 p.m. service will be Bishop J. C. Hash, senior pastor of Saint Peter’s World Outreach Center Church, Winston Salem.

Henderson Grove 

Henderson Grove Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate its 205th church anniversary on Sunday. The congregation was organized in 1812. The 11 a.m. speaker will be Rev. Reggie Price. Lunch will be served at 1:30 p.m.

Hymn Sing Sunday at Immanuel

ROCKWELL — The 11 a.m. Sunday worship service at Immanuel Lutheran will feature a Hymn Sing Festival. The sermon will be in song by the Immanuel Chancel Choir under the direction of “Dr. Rob.” Many hymns utilize direct quotes or paraphrased passages from the Bible while other hymns contain original words of individual authors who were inspired by God’s greatness and goodness.

Women’s Day at Soldiers Memorial

Soldiers Memorial AME Zion Church, 306 N. Church St., will celebrate Women’s Day on Sunday at the 11 a.m. service. The speaker will be Rev. L. Lynn Mitchell, associate minister of Trinity AME Zion Church, Greensboro. She is a Human Resource Development instructor at Randolph Community College.

The program theme is “Women United for Christ”. Special music will be provided by an all-female choir under the direction of Kay Wright Norman. Following the service, a fellowship dinner will be served. Rev. Dr. Derrick R. Anderson is host pastor.

Laity Day at Southern City

Southern City AME Zion Church will celebrate Laity Day on Sunday at 11 a.m. Speaker of the hour will be Minister of Music Tim Jones,who also serves as a fireman with the Concord Fire Department. All members and guests are ask to wear black and gold the Laity colors. First Baptist holds benefit

First Baptist Church of Salisbury, 23 N. Fulton St., is hosting a benefit concert for hurricane relief on Sunday, Oct. 29 at 6:15 p.m., featuring local talent. An offering will be taken during the concert for those devastated by the hurricanes.

‘Surviving the holidays’

KANNAPOLIS — “GriefShare: Surviving the Holidays” is a seminar for people facing the holidays after a loved one’s death. It will be held on Saturday, Nov. 4 from 10 a.m.-noon at Central Baptist Church, 1810 Moose Road. There is no charge.

 Appreciation service at Neel Road Baptist

On Sunday, Oct. 15, the congregation of Neel Road Baptist Church surprised Pastor Tim McQueen, his wife Donna, and youth pastor Brian Hancock with an unscheduled time of voicing appreciation in words, thanks to God in song, and food and fellowship. Presentations were made by representatives from the youth group and the congregation. Special music was provided by minister of music Susan Shores.
