NASHVILLE, Tenn. ó The Tennessee Titans called police Monday night for help searching for Vince Young because his therapist told coach Jeff Fisher the quarterback mentioned suicide several times before driving away from his home with a gun.
Both Fisher and Young have said what happened Monday night was overblown by the media. But the supplemental report filed Tuesday by Nashville police showed that Fisher was worried about the quarterback after the call from Young’s therapist.
“I asked him, ‘What made her worry about him?’ Lt. Andrea Swisher wrote. “He stated, ‘His mood, his emotions, he wants to quit, and he mentioned suicide several times.’ He went on to state that he left the house with a gun.”
– BEREA, Ohio ó A star-struck police officer who made a traffic stop on Cleveland Browns wide receiver Braylon Edwards let the player go without a speeding ticket, a suburban police chief said Friday.
Edwards was stopped on Aug. 29 in Avon, Ohio, after police said he was driving 120 mph in his Bentley along Interstate 90. The officer apparently was star-struck over meeting the Pro Bowler, said Avon Police Chief Paul Romond.
Edwards has since been served with the ticket, and the officer, whose named wasn’t released, has been counseled about handling traffic stops.
– SAN DIEGO ó Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against Denver because of a jammed right big toe.Tomlinson was hurt during Sunday’s 26-24 loss to Carolina. He returned to practice Friday after sitting out the previous two days.
– ASHBURN, Va. ó Washington Redskins guard Pete Kendall and New York Giants linebacker Antonio Pierce were each fined $5,000 by the NFL on Friday for their actions during a push-and-shove incident in the teams’ season opener.

CONCORD ó Larry Dixon capped the first day of qualifying in the inaugural NHRA Carolinas Nationals with a 3.846-second run at 310.20 mph to claim the provisional No. 1 qualifying position in Top Fuel.
Overflow crowds were on hand at Bruton Smith’s new zMax Dragway, built adjacent to Lowe’s Motor Speedway, to witness the first NHRA POWERade Series event in the state of North Carolina.

CONOVER ó Defending champion R.W. Eaks shot an 11-under 61 on Friday in the Greater Hickory Classic, missing a chance for the first 59 in Champions Tour history when he parred the final three holes.
After making nine birdies and an eagle to reach 11 under after 15 holes, the 56-year-old Eaks had good birdie chances on the final two holes.
The 61 was the best score this year on Champions Tour.
– MOBILE, Ala. ó Cristie Kerr moved into position for her second straight LPGA Tour victory, shooting a 6-under 66.
