Food Lion to hold 6K Saturday to honor 60 years

SALISBURY — Food Lion is celebrating its 60th anniversary with The Lion’s Run, an inaugural 6K race and one-mile children’s fun run on Saturday, starting and ending at its No. 1 store at 123 Mahaley Ave.
Proceeds from the run will benefit Rowan Helping Ministries in Salisbury and Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina in Charlotte.
The run is part of the chain’s commitment to eliminating hunger. To date, Food Lion Feeds has raised 250,000 meals through this event.
Food Lion president Meg Ham will be on hand for the 5K race, which starts at 8 a.m. The fun run starts at 9 a.m.
