* Time: 7:30 p.m.
* Records: Charlotte Providence Day 2-1; Davie County 2-1
* Series: First meeting
* Last game: Providence Day beat Forsyth Country Day 41-0; Davie lost to Thomasville 38-34 on Monday
* Next week: Providence Day takes on Cheraw, S.C.; Davie plays Charlotteís Berry Academy
* Game notes: Not much rest for the War Eagles who have to bounce back quickly from the bitter taste of Mondayís disappointing loss to Thomasville.
Davie is also one of the more banged-up teams in the area, with corner Brandon Walls (ACL) out for the season and DB Shyteek Brown (jaw), running back James Mayfield (shoulder) and linebacker Jared Barber (shoulder) on the shelf.
Providence Day is mostly a mysterious quantity, although head coach Bruce Hardin, who was hired last March, is one of the stateís all-time best with 289 career victories.
Hardin has coached mostly in Charlotte, but his stop at A.L. Brown from 1989-99 was tremendously successful and produced 3A state titles in 1989 and 1997.
Hardinís twin sons, Blair and Justin, played for the Wonders and are now in the prep coaching ranks. Blair is the head coach at Porter Ridge while Justin is an assistant at Charlotte Latin.
Hardinís Providence staff includes former NFL player Hardy Nickerson, who coaches linebackers.
Providence Day went 6-4 last season after starting 5-0.
Receiver Blake Wylie is usually the top threat for the private-school Chargers, who lost to McCallie School before beating Victory Christian and Forsyth Country Day.
Linebacker Santana Arnold will be one of the leaders for Davieís defense, while quarterback Zach Illing and receiver Joe Watson have been the big guns offensively.
