Letter: About coverage and protest

I want to cover two things.

The Salisbury Post had coverage of Autumn Jubilee. The Post had coverage of the Puddles and Pork in East Spencer. On Sept. 15 and 16, Tilley Harley Davidson of Salisbury had its sixth annual Biker Blues BBQ Rally and Festival. There was no coverage from the Post, not one word or picture. Thousands came to this event. Where was the coverage? The rally raised money for the VA; the other events did not.

The second thing I want to cover is I would like to see about 25 disabled veterans, who lost arms, legs, in wheelchairs, go stand in front of the kneeling ball players and salute the flag to show these so-called role models what a real American is. These veterans lost their limbs. How many of these ball players ever wore a uniform, ever been in combat? I guess very few.

Put that uniform on, go fight, watch your buddies get shot to pieces, then come back and kneel and turn your back on the flag.

I heard a two-star general say veterans have to be role models for the young; NFL players are not. I am an American, Southerner and veteran and proud of it.

Editor’s note: On the weekend of the rally, the Post covered Germanfest at the Old Stone House and a fundraiser for hurricane relief held at Oak Park.
