- Lee Street theatre and PPT prepare for upcoming shows
Community Fall Festival

MT. ULLA — This free community festival is cohosted by West Rowan Farm Home and Garden and West Rowan Volunteer Fire Department, beginning at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct 28. There will be live music performed by southern gospel group Heaven’s Joy starting at 4:30 p.m.
Kids can come in their Halloween outfits for a costume contest, games, trick or treat, free hotdogs and touch a fire truck. Fire safety education will be handed out.
St. Luke’s Lutheran Church Youth will be hosting a hay ride at the event, and there will be local vendors. To participate in the pumpkin pie eating contest, call 704-278-2800 to register and reserve your pie. A cake walk will help raise money for St. Luke’s Lutheran Church Youth to help the people hit by the hurricane in Houston, Texas.
In addition, the professional and award-winning Timbersports team will be performing. Members of Timbersports perform during the summer months at a theme park style show in Alaska (time to be determined; check Facebook). The festival event is free and fun for the whole family. 2017 Dancing for the Arts
CONCORD — Dancing For The Arts is an exciting benefit for the Cabarrus Arts Council. Reinventing the popular show, “Dancing with the Stars,” this fundraising event showcases local celebrity dancers paired with professional dancers, all raising funds by gaining votes.
The dance pairs will hone their skills away from the limelight, then come together to compete in a one night gala dance competition on Saturday, Nov. 11, 6 p.m.-midnight, in the Davis Theatre at 65 Union St. South in the Historic Cabarrus County Courthouse.
Tickets are $125 and include a cocktail buffet, gala event and performance followed by the Dancing Under the Stars after party. CONCORD — Coming up from 1-5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4 in Downtown Concord: unlimited beer tastings, chili tastings while they last and live music all afternoon. David Childers will be performing at 1 p.m. the Mike Strauss Band at 2:30 p.m., and Paleface at 4 p.m.
