SALISBURY — A Salisbury man was charged with possession of methamphetamine, heroin and other items after he was found unconscious in his vehicle parked at a convenience store, according to police.
The Salisbury Police Department charged Jeremy Eugene Motley, 27, of the 200 block of Grayson Drive, with felony possession of a controlled substance Schedule I (suboxone); felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a controlled substance Schedule II; misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance Schedule III; misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance Schedule IV; misdemeanor maintaining a dwelling or vehicle for controlled substances; and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
A police officer arrived at the Kangaroo Express, 2270 Statesville Blvd., at 6 a.m. Sunday to check on a man who was reported as unconscious in a Nissan Versa that was parked at a gas pump. The officer knocked on the window and the man came to, but he was disoriented, a report said.
He told police he had been at the Fish Hut Arcade with his wife. He had no odor of alcohol, but the officer believed he was impaired, said police Capt. Shelia Lingle.
The officer asked the man for permission to search his vehicle, which he granted. The officer found a green and yellow Crown Royal bag that contained a glass-bulb smoking pipe and a white substance that tested positive for methamphetamine (4 grams). A lunch bag found in the back of the car contained an ibuprofen bottle with four suboxone strips. Suboxone is typically used to treat pain as well as addiction to narcotic pain relievers.
Police also found a silver gum wrapper on the driver’s side floor board with heroin inside it. In addition, they found a clonazepam pill, a digital scale, 1 gram of heroin and $1,295 in cash found on Motley.
He remains in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $25,000 secured bond.
