Letter: Town council needs diversity

Please consider my request that you cast your vote next week for Arthur Heggins for China Grove Town Council.
Like all organizations that work with the community, our Town Council needs diversity. There are no women on the council and Arthur is the only non-white person running. Arthur is best equipped to relate to every citizen and coordinate the best solution to each issue that comes before the council.
I have known Arthur for over 30 years and can attest to his honesty, integrity, ability and desire to make a difference. He and his wife, Vanessa, have done just that for all of their adult lives — made a difference. He is retired from the N.C. Highway Department and served a dual role as pastor of several churches. They have raised a family of college graduates who have also followed the path of making a difference.
Arthur has given of himself at every turn in his life and most certainly will do that as he represents the citizens of China Grove — proposing plans and making decisions that will improve conditions for all of us. He will help continue to help build a community of which we can all be proud.
Arthur would be the first person to admit that he does not have all of the answers, but he has spent his life coordinating other people’s efforts and will use that ability for us as he weighs the problems, evaluates China Grove’s requirements and sorts out solutions to our needs.
Arthur’s maturity and experience will compliment those already serving and he will use this valuable tool wisely. He fully understands that China Grove’s government is non-partisan and pledges to work hard for all of our citizens.
