Steve and Cokie Roberts “hit the nail on the head” with their “Testing time for democracy” column. The Trump administration must be stopped, with the Russian meddling aimed at taking down our country. More damage has already been done to this nation than many people realize, however,  and I fear that things may have gone beyond a turning back point.

The US has lost its place among world leadership, and on the home front institutions are being dismantled, regulations undone and the citizenry and environment being hurt beyond repair. And Trump also has the US on the brink of World War 3 with his twitter antics and lack of leadership.

If you consider all of the things Trump is doing — “fake news,” tampering with the justice system, dividing the people so that we are in arms against each other, etc. — we could well be on the way to Nazism. With Hitler’s rise, there was a supporting group for his antics in the US before we came to our senses and put a stop to that support of Nazism. More people, especially GOP leaders, must stand up and oppose what is going on. The Mueller investigation must continue, but we also have to be aware of the other destructive things happening and put a stop to them at the the same time.

Rome wasn’t built in a day, and it wasn’t destroyed in a day, either. Before it is too late, folks.
