Today at New Beginning Church of God

CONCORD — 15th pastoral anniversary services at New Beginning Church of God, 5717 Alexander Road, for Bishop Gene & Evangelist Willie Roseman begin today at 11 a.m. with speaker Pastor R. Powell of P3 Ministries, Troutman.

Tonight at 7 p.m., the speaker will be Apostle S. Gillespie of Tabernacle of Joy Ministries, Mooresville. Services conclude on Sunday at 3 p.m., with speaker Dr. Bishop C.R. Minor of Mt. Calvary Apostolic Holiness Church, Statesville.

Today: Men’s Day and Workshop at Word of Life

The Mighty Men of Valor Fellowship of Word of Life Family Worship Center, 726 East Liberty St., is hosting a Men’s Workshop today and Sunday, on the theme of “A Godly Husband, Father and Friend.”

Today’s sessions begin at 9 a.m. with Minister Toney Snipes an Associate Minister at Word of Life as the speaker. Session Two will begin at 10:30 a.m. Bishop Elvin Mickens, pastor of Mt. Calvary Holy Church Family Worship Center in Concord, will speaker at the Men’s Day Service at 10 a.m. on Sunday.

150 years at Ebenezer Lutheran

As Ebenezer Lutheran Church celebrates its 150th anniversary year, the church welcomes Pastor Don Safrit as guest pastor on Sunday at the 8:45 a.m. service.

Pastor Don is married to the former Theresa Lyerly, whose mother, Ruby Martin, at age 98, is Ebenezer’s oldest life-long member.

Pastor Don and Theresa will also be honored at a covered dish luncheon at 11:30 a.m.

Moore’s Chapel celebrates 125

Moore’s Chapel AME Zion Church, 500 Partee St., will celebrate its Quasquicentennial (125th) church anniversary on Sunday.

Morning worship is at 10 a.m. During the service, senior members that are octogenarians (80-89) and nonagenarians (90-99) will be honored.

A luncheon will be held at 1 p.m. in the fellowship hall and the afternoon service is at 3 p.m. with guest preacher, one of Moore’s Chapel’s sons, Rev. Dr. Michael E. Ellis, presiding elder of the Greensboro District – West Central NC Conference, accompanied by the Greensboro District Choir.

Fruit offering at Mount Zion UCC

CHINA GROVE — During the 10:30 a.m. service at Mt. Zion UCC, 1415 S. Main St., a fruit offering will be collected on behalf of the homebound and hungry of the Mt. Zion and China Grove communities. After worship the children and youth will deliver fruit bags in the spirit of Thanksgiving. At 5 p.m. is a Thanksgiving Feast for church and community which will include an auction fundraiser on behalf of the Main Street Mission Food Pantry.

Southern City’s Women in White 

EAST SPENCER — Southern City Tabernacle AME Zion Church, 940 S. Long St., will host a 100 Women in White Concert on Sunday at 4 p.m. This is the 7th annual 100 Women in White Concert sponsored by the Inspirational Choir, which is made up of women of faith from the various churches in the community. The theme is “Women walking in Grace.” The choir is under the direction of Rev. Patrick Tate and Tim Jones, Minister of Music. Women that attend the concert are requested to wear white. The final rehearsal is tonight at 6 p.m.

Community Thanksgiving Worship at St. James

ROCKWELL — St. James Lutheran Church, 131 W. Main St., hosts a community service on Sunday at 5 p.m.

The preacher will be Rev. Charlie Curtis from Rockwell United Methodist Church and Liturgist is Rev. Jason W. Huebner from St. James Lutheran in Rockwell.

Supper at St. Matthews Lutheran

St. Matthews Lutheran Church, 9275 Bringle Ferry Road, hosts a Thanksgiving Worship and Supper event on Sunday at 5 p.m.

Rowan One Church One Child Ministry Concert

On Sunday at 6 p.m. Milford Hills United Methodist Church, 1630 Statesville Blvd., hosts the Rowan One Church One Child Ministry Fall and Christmas Concert, featuring The Furr Family Gospel Band and Rev. Brad Treece.

Held in the fellowship hall. There are two ways to help — give a love offering to help purchase a bed for a child or become a foster parent to a child. Learn more at the concert.

Thanksgiving service at Bethel UMC with music 

MOCKSVILLE — Bethel United Methodist Church will host a Thanksgiving Service on Sunday at 7 p.m. Hazy Ridge Bluegrass Band will lead the worship service in song. There will be a covered dish dinner at 6 p.m. Bethel UMC is located at 353 Bethel Church Road.

Mocksville Community Thanksgiving Service

MOCKSVILLE — The Mocksville Ministerial Alliance’s Community Thanksgiving Service is Sunday at 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church on Main St. Rev. Shane Nixon, First Baptist Church, and Pastor Fred Terry, Second Presbyterian Church, are hosts. Also participating are Rev. Dr. Glenn Myers, First UMC, Rev. Dana Fruits, First Presbyterian, Rev. Tamica Robinson, St. John AME Zion, Bishop Rick Hayes, New Jerusalem Apostolic Church, and Carole Demmy, Holy Cross Lutheran.

The choir is comprised of vocalists from churches in the Mocksville area, directed by Rev. Linza Layman Coffee, First Baptist Church. Musicians include Gray King, organ, and Barbara Stafford, piano.

An offering will benefit The Advocacy Center, CareNet of Davie County, and A Storehouse for Jesus.

Joint UMA worship service

The United Ministerial Alliance will host its joint worship service at 7 p.m. Sunday at Fairview Heights Baptist Church, 704 Old Concord Road. Rev. Diane Roberts, associate minister of Mount Calvary Holy Church, will deliver the message. Rev. Clarence Marlin is the host pastor.

The UMA’s business meeting will be held at 11 a.m. today at Tower of Power United Holy Church, 601 East Cemetery St.

Landis community Thanksgiving service

LANDIS — The Landis Community Thanksgiving Service will be hosted by Grace Baptist Church on Sunday at 7 p.m. at the South Rowan YMCA on Kimball Road. Participating churches are: First Reformed, First United Methodist, Grace Baptist; Landis First Assembly of God, Mt. Moriah Lutheran, New Piney Grove Baptist, Sandy Ridge AME Zion, and Trinity Lutheran.

Pastor Jon Sherrell will bring the evening message, and special music will be provided by The Sandy Ridge AME Zion Mass Choir. An offering will be taken for Main Street Mission in China Grove. A reception will follow the service.

Mt .Zion community Thanksgiving Day worship

Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 1920 Shirley Ave., will celebrate the Season of Thanksgiving & Thanksliving by hosting the annual Community Thanksgiving Day Worship on Thursday, Nov. 23 at 10 a.m.

Bishop Harvey Rice, retired pastor of Mount Calvary Holy Church, will speak. The Praise Team and Music Ministry of Mount Zion will lead devotional praise and music. Dr. Nilous M. Avery II is host pastor.

Dress is casual and everyone is asked to bring canned goods and/or non-perishable food items, which will be distributed to local agencies to assist local families in need. For more information, call 704-637-0954.

Pine Ridge Baptist to host remembrance service

There will be a candlelight service for remembering family and friends at Pine Ridge Baptist Church. This remembrance service is open to anyone who would like to have special names called. If you can’t attend, all names submitted will be called.

The Thanksgiving Food & Funds Drive for Rowan Helping Ministries will continue throughout the month of November at Neel Road Baptist Church.

From Nov. 26- Dec. 24 is a special series of services celebrating the coming of Christ in words, song, and scripture.
