Salisbury’s home football game with Lexington was postponed by rain on Friday and will be played Monday at 7:30 p.m.
The Mount Tabor-Davie County game was postponed until Monday at 7 p.m.
n Prep tennis
The 2A Midwest Regional tennis tournament in Salisbury has been postponed until today and Monday due to rain.
Three rounds are scheduled for today, beginning at approximately 9:30 a.m. The finals will be played Monday at 4 p.m. Each of Salisbury’s top six qualified.
n Middle School football
China Grove’s eighth-graders won 24-6 against Erwin.
Josh Medlin had a 3-yard touchdown run, added a conversion run and scored on a conversion pass from Eric Tyler. Tyler scored on a 1-yard run and passed 60 yards to Connor Bridges for a touchdown. Bubba McLaughlin added a PAT run.
Medlin, Jacob Morrison, Bridges and Matt Broome led the Red Devils (4-1) on defense.
– China Grove’s seventh-graders won 38-26 against Erwin.
William Elliot had a 38-yard TD run, a 10-yard TD reception from Eric Goldston, a conversion run and a conversion pass.
David Comer scored on a 65-yard run and added a conversion run. Will Zentmeyer scored on a 3-yard run and a conversion pass from Goldston. Tyler Fuller closed the scoring with a 43-yard run.
Elliot, Comer (interception), Max Lear, and Jesse Tucker were standouts on defense for the Red Devils (2-3).
n West middle boosters
The West Rowan Middle School boosters club will meet Monday at 5:30 p.m. in Ms. Pless’ health room. Everyone (including non-members) is welcome to attend.
n Salisbury Academy
Salisbury Academy’s soccer team won 1-0 against Sacred Heart.
It was the first win for Salisbury Academy in the series.
Justin Ruffin scored the goal. Ian Lins and Alex Wimmer led the defense. Tyler Petty had the shutout in goal for the Jaguars (6-2-1), who finished second in the CCISAA and open the playoffs Thursday against Statesville Christian.
n Volleyball club
The Rowan Volleyball Club will have open gym for ages 10-14 on Sunday Oct. 26 from 2:30-4:30 and ages 15-18 from 4:00-6:00 at Carson. The cost is $5.
Rowan Volleyball Club (Salisbury/China Grove area) will have tryouts on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 9:30-11:30 and Saturday, Nov. 8, from 9-11 at Carson for the following age groups: 10-12s, 13s, 14s and 15s. We will begin try-outs for the 16s, 17s & 18s on Sunday, Nov. 2, from 2:30-4:30 and Saturday, Nov. 8,, from 10:30-12:30 at Carson. There will be a $10 try-out fee. All players need to come for both days of try-outs.

n Catawba athletics
The Catawba women’s cross country team finished second out of six teams at the Wingate Invitational Meet on Thursday afternoon.
Jacque Thompson led Catawba with a fifth-place finish in 21:22. The men did not score as a team.
Maleah Cole finished sixth, clocking in at 21:25.
Chris Haney led the men. He finished 10th in 17:30.
