Come one, come all to the 2014 Student Expo at the Salisbury Civic Center this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
The “circus” theme for this event has been so popular that it will resume this year. A favorite activity is the array of bright, fun “photo boards” that allows students and adults to have their pictures taken as part of the circus experience. Plenty of Cheerwine, animal crackers and other snacks will also be enjoyed.
Artwork from more than 700 Rowan County students in grades K-12 will be on display. Public, private and home-school students were eligible to participate. 
This annual event is co-sponsored by The Carolina Artists and Salisbury Parks and Recreation Department.
A new feature, the permanent installation of the Walker Display Hanging Art System, was donated to the Salisbury Civic Center by The Carolina Artists. This generous gift was jointly funded by The Carolina Artists guild and through a grant from The Rowan Arts Council. Labor and installation were provided by Paul Moore and his staff at the Civic Center. As a permanent feature, this professional display system will also be available to other groups using the facility, at no additional change.
The Carolina Artists guild sincerely thanks local artist and art teacher, Ingrid Erickson, for serving as the judge for this show. Ingrid received her BA in art history with a minor in studio art (with a focus on printmaking) from Middlebury College, Middlebury Vt., in 2003.
Her works have been featured in numerous museums and galleries across the county. Ingrid currently teaches ART Stop classes for grade 5 at Waterworks Visual Art Center and provides private art lessons for ages 5-18 in a variety of art media.  
Award ribbons and prizes bags containing art supplies will be given winning students.
Congratulations to all students in this year’s show and “thank you” to the families, friends, and teachers who support and encourage these children.

A communitywide reception honoring the winners and all participants will held Thursday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Salisbury Civic Center.
