SALISBURY — Twenty-eight students from Salisbury Academy’s fourth through seventh grades are recognized in the 2017-18 Duke University Talent Search (Duke TIP).
Since 1980, Duke TIP has recognized and engaged more than 2.5 million youths who scored at or above the 95th percentile on a grade-level standardized test.
New qualifiers in the fourth- through sixth-grade category include:
• Fourth grade: Finnegan Avery, Luke Bardinas, Daniel Ellis, Ellen Fry, Sam Goodman, Baxter Heilig, Jacob Mills, Carrie Robson, Avery Smith, Mollie Sullivan, Connor Towns and Cora Wymbs.
• Fifth grade: Noah Bardinas, Sawyer Burton, Gray Davis, Warren Fesperman, Peyton Hollar and Ava Morris.
New qualifiers in the seventh grade category include Kate Burton, Jaiden Colbert, Rodina Eliwa, Wyatt Goodnight, Leah Renten, Elsie Richter, Ann Hunter Robertson, Nate Shaffer, Courtney Williams and Bailey Zino.
“We pride ourselves on promoting student-centered education. The varied programs offered through Duke TIP provide many opportunities for students to challenge themselves in the areas in which they excel,” said Heather Coulter, curriculum director for Salisbury Academy.
The school has eight additional current fourth- through sixth-grade students who qualified for the program in previous years. Through qualifying for Duke TIP and participating in advanced testing, academically gifted students can be identified, challenged and given the best possible resources for their academic growth.
