SALISBURY — Another Holiday Caravan Parade has come and gone. And, just like every year, there were stand-out floats that deserved special recognition.

The Carl E. Weinbrunn Award — named for the man who came up with the new name for the Rowan County Christmas Parade in 1963 — went to Oakdale Baptist Church.

Bayada Home Health Care won first place in the professional float category, followed by Lora Belle Baby in second place and Carolinas Health Care System in third place.

The most outstanding non-professional business float was Noah’s Playloft “Rockin’ the House.”

East Rowan High School varsity and junior varsity cheerleaders won first place in the non-professional, non-business category, followed by South Style Cloggers in second place and Stallings Memorial Baptist Church in third.

The first place Julian C. Johnston Honor Band award went to Livingstone Band, which was followed by East Rowan High School in second place and Salisbury High School in third.

The best JROTC group was East Rowan.

The best dance group was Triple Threat Dance & Charm.

The best front line was Livingstone Band.

The best drum major or majorettes went to Livingstone Band.

The best drum line was East Rowan.

The General Chairman’s award went to Salisbury Parks and Recreation.

The Executive Director’s award went to Cub Scout Pack 306.

The best religious entry went to Sacred Heart Catholic School.

The award for the best depiction of the “Happy Holidays” theme was TMR Realty Inc. and Pinnacle Financial.
