Congratulations to those elected to the City Council and much appreciation to Maggie Blackwell and Ken Hardin for their service. Congratulations to Al Heggins for garnering the most votes to put you in a position to be our mayor, and to David Post for the second place to make you the mayor pro tem.
This is truly an exciting time in Salisbury. I am looking forward to a different and positive atmosphere at City Hall. I hope to be there on Dec. 5 at this historic event of the swearing in of our new City Council. I wish to pledge my support to you all as you work together to make Salisbury the best it can be.
I know that Al is equipped to lead as the City Council makes people the priority. We can make Salisbury strong and a safe place for all its citizens.
I invite all the citizens of Salisbury on Dec. 5 to come out and pledge to roll up our sleeves and work with our new City Council. Let us be accountable to each other as we work to solve our problems. The people have spoken, and it is now time to work together for the good of our beautiful city. I call on Al Heggins, David Post, Karen Alexander, Tamara Sheffield, and Brian Miller to serve the people of Salisbury and focus on solving problems.
Thank you to all who voted, but voting is not all that is required of us. Now it is time to work with our elected city officials to bring all the good to our city and make our city better for all its citizens. We have to hold our elected official accountable, which we can only do if we are being accountable citizens. See you all on Dec. 5.
