20th annual ROBOJO at RPL on Saturday

The wacky RoBoJo Theatre Troupe returns to RPL for the 20th annual presentation of its Holiday Theater. A fun crew of talented local actors joins RPL’s children’s staff to perform an hour-long variety show featuring skits, songs, readers’ theater, and audience participation.

Rockwell Civitans host Breakfast with Santa

ROCKWELL — Santa Claus will arrive on a motorcycle to Romano’s Italian Restaurant in Rockwell on Saturday, Dec. 2, for a Breakfast with Santa sponsored by the Rockwell Civitan Club.

Tickets are $5 per person for three breakfast seatings from 8:30-9:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m., 10:30-11:30 a.m. Seating is limited for each session; and tickets may be purchased at 704-754-3207.

Breakfast events include a plate of bacon, eggs, grits, pancakes and drinks, a visit with Santa where visitors may take all the pictures they want, making a Christmas craft, writing letters to Santa and shopping in Santa’s mobile mall.

Winter workshops for kids

Tiny Canvas Painting and Card Making

Students paint small canvases that can easily be made into keepsake ornaments or gifts. This time of year calls for handmade cards so we will make sure to have some ready to send out. $25 includes materials and instruction • 10 a.m.-noon Dec. 2 • 1-3 p.m. Dec. 9 • 1-3 p.m. Dec. 16

Individual Expression

‘Cruise-By Christmas Window Art Show’ coming

The third annual “Cruise By Christmas Window Art Show” will brighten the windows of local businesses in the Salisbury-Rowan area. The show features the window art of local artist Cherrathee Hager. The show is family friendly and is open 24 hours a day. Stop by as you shop or dine out.

The paintings are perfect for photos with family and friends…and guaranteed to create smiles and special memories.

Locations include Hendrix BBQ at 1624 W. Innes St.; Hendrix BBQ at 1530 Statesville Blvd.; The Pop Shoppe at 1831 W. Innes; Landmark Family Resturant at 1617 South Main St.  Other locations to be announced.

Auditions for ‘The House at Pooh Corner’

MOORESVILLE — The Mooresville Community Children’s Theatre will hold open auditions for the upcoming musical “The House at Pooh Corner” on Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 11-12. “The House at Pooh Corner” will be directed by Melissa Ohlman-Roberge. Auditions are at the Charles Mack Citizen Center, 215 N. Main St.

Auditions are open to youth ages 6-18. No prior acting experience is required; novice actors are encouraged to audition. It’s free to audition; if cast, a $90 participation fee covers materials, costumes, t-shirt and acting instruction. The Phoenix Readers present ‘Christmas made in America’

On Dec. 8, Center for Faith & the Arts, 207 W. Harrison St. behind Haven Lutheran Church, will feature holiday art, crafts, music and entertainment.

The galleries will be showcasing the Bishop Family Chreche Collection;

In the parlor, entertainment thoughout the evening includes string trios from the Salisbury Youth Orchestra, Ashley Jo Farmer, and The Phoenix Readers;

The large front classroom will be filled with artists participating in CFA’s first ever Suitcase Sale, offering a variety of gift items for sale including handpainted peg dolls, Christmas wreaths, stone and bone jewelry, pottery, embroidered Santas, paintings, quilted items and more;

In the hallways will be face painting and magic. Outside the office find homebaked goodies, hot chocolate, and coffee; everything for $1;

Lee Street to hold auditions for award-winning comedy

The Realistic Joneses

Visit The Realistic Joneses and meet Bob and Jennifer. Their new neighbors, John and Pony, have even more in common than their identical homes and shared last names. As their relationships begin to entwine, the Joneses must decide between their idyllic fantasies and their imperfect realities. Written by Will Eno, this production will be directed by CataLST Intern Peyton Glendinning who most recently directed Dog Sees God at Hedrick Little Theatre of Catawba College.

Auditions will be held Dec. 10-11 at 7 p.m. Adults aged 20s and older will be cast. Character descriptions are available at www.leestreet.org

‘Making a Mark’ art exhibit opens

The Salisbury Business Center welcomes artists from the Jesse C. Carson Fine Arts Program and will host an exhibition and artists’ opening reception for ‘Making a Mark’ on Friday Dec. 1, from 5-8 p.m. It is free and open to the public. Refreshments and light fare will be served.

The exhibit, which will run from Dec. 1-Feb. 23, features original works by • Lisa Mirisola • Isabella Almazon  • Victoria Amaro • Chloe Kirkpatrick • Olivia Cunningham • Kristina Neumiller • Serena Wale • Plus live reception music provided by Karen Franks, flutist.

In the Jesse C. Carson Fine Art Program under the tutelage of Marc Riley, young artists receive an exposure to arts disciplines, prepare for college arts programs, and construct a portfolio. ‘Making a Mark’ is part of the Salisbury Business Center Art Partnerships Gallery Exhibits Program.
