Project Cover and A.T.C. Ministries will present a program designed to break down stereotypes by providing real-life situations that let participants identify with someone facing poverty.

Called “A Poverty Simulation,” the program will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at Rowan Public Library, 201 W. Fisher St.

The simulation will allow participants to walk a month in the shoes of someone who finds himself facing poverty and helping them to understand how complex and interconnected the issues of poverty are.

The program is designed for health care professionals; clergy and congregation members; social service providers; elected officials; customer service groups; educators; management staff; college students; community organizations; and corporations.

The exercise will help people rethink the challenges that millions of low-income people face each day, organizers said.
