The Other Voices editorial in the Dec. 11 Post, “Meddling in NC courts” (from The News & Record of Greensboro) is a most important voice that we must pay attention to.

The last place that should be political is the court system. Justice must be fair and equal, and partisan politics would skewer it terribly.

Sometimes today we might question court decisions, but all of them would be questionable under the politically motivated system created by the GOP-led N.C. legislature.

Both at the state level in North Carolina and in Washington, Republicans are on their way to court-packing in order to get their way on issues and to better control we the people. The editorial is well-documented and signals for all of us that we must be alert to keep this from happening. If these proposed changes to the courts are made, it endangers justice for all citizens.
