Sculpture exhibit
MISENHEIMER ó In a new exhibit created specifically for the Grace and Cameron West Art Gallery at Pfeiffer University, sculptor Michael Morrison’s goal was to reclaim and reuse materials and present them as seemingly ordinary objects.
This endeavor resulted in the upcoming exhibit, “From Long Hill,” on display at Pfeiffer University through Nov. 14.
An artist reception will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, in the art gallery, located in Goode Hall on Pfeiffer’s Misenheimer campus. The event is free and open to the public.
Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday, except during special events.

Youth Theatre
LEXINGTON ó Lexington Youth Theatre will present “A Christmas Carol” at 7 p.m. Nov. 13-15 and 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16.
The performances will take place in the historic Smith Civic Center on Main Street. Tickets are $8.
“A Christmas Carol” will feature over 80 young actors in varied roles.
Two of the performers are from Salisbury. Jennifer Pettigrew is Emily (Scrooge at 18’s fiance) and Morgan Adkins is Fred’s wife, Sally.

RenFest events
HUNTERSVILLE ó Only two weekends remain in the Carolina Renaissance Festival’s 15th anniversary season.
In honor of the upcoming holidays, the Artisan Marketplace presents “A Pirate’s Christmas” Nov. 8-9. Early holiday shoppers are rewarded if they purchase $150 in festival crafts that weekend with two free tickets (a $30 value) to return on closing weekend, Nov. 15 or 16.
The festival encourages you to bring two canned goods to the festival box office closing weekend and receive free child admission. Canned goods benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina.
In addition to the usual entertainment, special guest performances are scheduled during the final two weekends including a rocking musical performance by The Pirates Royale, dangerous feats of acrobatics by Barely Balanced, and Zilch the Torey Steller presents a unique version of an old holiday favorite, The Night before Christ Moose. And finally, get cute holiday greeting card photo opportunities with Mother Goose and her Holiday Flock hugging the kids.
Festival hours are 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. rain or shine. The location is north of Charlotte between Concord and Huntersville on Highway 73 at Poplar Tent Road (between I-77 and I-85). Exit 25 on I-77 or exits 52 or 55 on I-85. Parking is free.

Santa visit
“Santa” Cliff Snider is returning to Peek-a-Boo’s Children’s Boutique, 1714 W. Innes St., Nov. 10-11, and will be available for photos.
He will have copies of his new book, “Santa’s Journey… Sharing Christmas Year Round” available for sale. More information about the book is at www.bbotw.com. Snider is to be featured in the Christmas issue of “Guideposts” magazine, coming out around Thanksgiving.
He will start his third season at Christmas Castle on Saturday, Nov. 29 (www.christmascastlenc.com).
Choral workshop
A free choral workshop is being held at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church Parish Hall, 131 W. Council St. 7-9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14 and 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15.
Leading the workshop will be Dr. James Abbington, noted expert in African-American church music and the editor of numerous hymn and choral collections.
He is currently associate professor of church music and Worship at the Candler School of Theology, Emory University, Atlanta, and executive editor of the African-American Church Music series published by GIA of Chicago.
Lunch and music will be provided for all participants.
This workshop is being held in preparation for the third annual Glory of Christmas concert to be held 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14. Additional rehearsals for the concert will be added following the November workshop.
