Our Christmas this year was made a lot happier by Christmas elves — yes, elves.

They came for the 12 days of Christmas. Every night between 7 and 8 o’clock, they would knock on our door and leave a surprise.

The first night they left a paper that said they would knock and run and not to try to catch them — it would ruin the fun. They left cookies, Christmas plates, a Christmas towel, poinsettia, popcorn tin, jars of M&Ms, jelly and muffins and other little gifts, something different for 12 nights.

Every night for 12 nights when we would hear a little knock, we would grin at each other and wait a few minutes for them to leave and then see what they had left us. It didn’t really matter what it was. It was just the anticipation and magic of the elves.

We never did find out who they were. Just wanted to let them know how much we enjoyed it. So thank you very much, whoever you are.
