FAYETTEVILLE — Livingstone’s Kyala Searcy and Taylor Perkins combined for 54 points, but it was not enough, as Fayetteville State defeated the Blue Bears, 90-76, in CIAA women’s basketball action here Saturday afternoon.

Livingstone suffered its eighth straight loss and fell to 5-12 overall and 0-7 in the CIAA. The Broncos improve to 6-9 and 2-5.

Searcy, a junior forward, led the way with 29 points, while Perkins, a freshman guard, scored 25 points. Searcy made 11-of-19 shots from the floor and all three of her free throws. Perkins was 7-for-12 and 11-of-13 from the foul line.

I’Keya Bland scored 10 points for Livingstone and led the team in rebounds with seven boards.

Noni Kuumba led FSU with 19 points while Shantel Bennett added 15.

The Blue Bears return to action on Wednesday with a 5:30 game at J.C. Smith in Charlotte.
