Today: Pastor appreciation service 

This evening at 7:30 p.m. Pastor Robert Wood of the Gray’s Chapel FBH Church will be the speaker for an appreciation service honoring Rev. John L. Krider, at the Ambassador Christian Church, 724 Lincolnton Road.

 

Mt. Zion UCC honors Isley

CHINA GROVE — During Sunday’s 10:30 a.m. service at Mt. Zion United Church of Christ, 1415 S. Main St., Martha Isley will be honored for her 44 years of service as church musician. Afterwards in the new building is appreciation covered dish dinner. On Sunday morning canned goods and donations will be collected on behalf of the Souper Bowl of Caring. Luther’s Lutheran Souper Bowl

RICHFIELD — At Luther’s Lutheran Church, at the corner of Stokes Ferry and Richfield Roads, the youth will host their Souper Bowl Sunday Lunch after the morning service, at approximately 12:15 p.m. Cost of meal: a canned or nonperishable food item for Rowan Helping Ministries.

 

McMahan to deliver initial sermon

COOLEEMEE — Deacon Quintenna W. McMahan will preach her initial sermon at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, on Sunday at 3 p.m. The Rev. Dr. Ervin Baker is the host pastor.

 

Gethsemane conducts Purpose Driven Life classes

Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church will be conducting Purpose Driven Life classes, led by the Rev. Roosevelt Jenkins. The next study date is Thursday, Feb. 15 from noon-1:30 p.m. Classes meet in the Hurley Room at Rowan Public Library.

 

GriefShare recovery support sessions

KANNAPOLIS — A 13-week GriefShare recovery group will meet on Mondays, Feb. 5 through Apr 30 at Central Baptist Church,1810 Moose Road,. Each session is self contained. Learn more at 704-467-2795 or 704-933-8006.

 

The Wilmington Celebration Choir

Coming Saturday, Feb. 17 at 6 p.m. to the First Baptist Church First Ministry Center Gym, 220 N. Fulton St., a fund raiser for Kentucky Missions Efforts and Hope Boxes. Admission is free but a love offering will be taken; in addition, canned soups and new socks for children ages 4 -14 are appreciated.

The Wilmington Celebration Choir is not a church choir but a traveling gospel choir singing a variety of styles of music including Southern gospel, praise and worship, traditional hymns, Black gospel and more. The group represents 15-20 different churches and denomination aging from 17 to past 70, all from southeastern North Carolina.

MOCKSVILLE — Friday, Feb. 9 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 862 Yadkinville Road. Doors open 5:30, games start at 6 p.m. Money raised supports St. Francis.
