SALISBURY — A local man wanted on federal weapons charges turned himself in at the Salisbury Police Department on Wednesday morning.
Malcolm Raheem Toomer, 25, was charged with felony possession of a firearm by a felon. He was taken into custody and is being held without bond.
Toomer is on a temporary hold for federal authorities, who will take him into custody.
His arrest comes a day after the Salisbury Police Department asked for the public’s help in locating Toomer. He has a number of previous convictions, including common law robbery, possession of stolen goods, and receiving or possessing a firearm.
The current charge is the result of a joint investigation by the Salisbury Police Department, Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
