Johnson C. Smith’s Golden Bulls outscored Catawba 20-12 in overtime and took a 1l0-102 victory in a showdown between two of the top men’s basketball teams in Division II at Goodman Gym on Wednesday.
Catawba (8-2) had six players in double figures, led by Antonio Houston’s 28. He made five 3-pointers.
Isaac Rose followed with 15, and Dominick Reid and Rob Fields scored 14 apiece. Donald Rutherford added 12, and Cliff Burns (Davie) had 11.
J.C. Smith (8-1) was paced by hot-shooting James Dillard, who poured in 35 points and pulled down 16 boards. Jerry Hollis had 24 points.
Catawba led 24-14 early and led 49-46 at halftime.
