Catawba offensive tackle Terence Crosby was named to the Associated Press Little All-America team. A junior from Kernersville, he was a second-team pick.Crosby anchored the line that paved the way for tailback Jamelle Cuthberton’s record-setting season.
Crosby had 27 knockdown blocks and allowed one sack in 283 pass plays. He was named All-SAC in 2007 and was a Football Gazette honorable mention All-American.
The Little All-America Team includes players from Division II, Division III and NAIA schools.
– Moir tournament
Pairings for the Sam Moir Christmas Classic were finalized Monday. There were no ties.
Salisbury’s girls (9-0) and West Rowan’s boys (6-0) are the top seeds and earned first-day byes.
See Scoreboard for a full list of pairings and times. Both Salisbury teams are defending champions.
Action starts at noon Saturday with the No. 4 West Rowan girls taking on No. 5 Davie, which won an OT game between the teams last week. The event includes 18 games, with six games daily on Saturday, Monday and Tuesday.
Admission is $6 per day. It is $3 for ages 5-12 and free for under 5.
Only NCHSAA, Gold Card and N.C. Official passes will be honored.
– Boswell induction
Former A.L. Brown football coach Bob Boswell will be inducted as an honorary member of the North Carolina Football Coaches Association on Feb. 6 at the Marriott in Greensboro.
The Burlington Williams and Elon graduate began his coaching career as a Graham assistant from 1960-65. He was 16-6-1 from 1966-67 as Graham’s head coach.
As the head football coach at High Point Andrews from 1968-73, his record was 46-7-2, including a 4A state championship in 1972.
Boswell was hired by N.C. State coach Lou Holtz and was an assistant there from 1974-76. He came to A.L. Brown as the AD and head coach in 1976. He brought weight training and stability.
Boswell’s first two teams were 2-8 and 3-7, but a 7-3 season in 1978 began the Wonders’ current run of 31 consecutive winning seasons.
Boswell’s 1980 team with future NFL standouts Ethan Horton and Lance Smith was ranked 19th nationally, and his 1982 team was ranked as high as 13th in the nation. His 1984 team was state runner-up. Boswell finished his tenure at Brown in 1988 with a record of 102-38-1 and six conference championships. Brown won 4A league titles in 1979 and 1980.
Boswell continued his successful career in Rock Hill, S.C. Boswell, 72, now serves as an assistant principal at South Rowan.
– Jayvee basketball
The Salisbury girls stayed unbeaten Monady with a 55-51 overtime win over Davie County.
The Hornets handed the War Eagles (5-1) their first loss. Masha Partee led Salisbury (7-0) with 18 points. Doreen Richardson had 13, and Najwa Allison added 10.
* Salisbury’s boys won 64-58 against Davie. Dejoun Jones led the Hornets (5-2) with 16 points, and Tion McCain had 14.
nSouth Rowan’s girls topped West Rowan 65-36. Brittney Barber scored 20 points for the Falcons. Alison Dutton had eight.
– All-SPC Wonders
A.L. Brown placed guard Chris Shaw, tight end Zach Massey, receiver T.J. Johnson, quarterback Jamill Lott, linebacker Chris Moore, strong safety Xavier Watson, free safety Billy Simiton, defensive end Dwayne Stroud, nose guard Justin Carson and kicker Morgan McDaniel on the All-SPC football team.
Anson’s Stephone Anthony was Defensive Player of the Year, while Sun Valley QB Andy Capone was Offensive Player of the Year.
Anson’s Tim McMahon, who played at Catawba, was named SPC Coach of the Year. Anson had 11 players on the team. Brown had 10.
* A.L. Brown’s Armando Lazaro and Gilberto Adame made the All-SPC boys soccer team.
* A.L. Brown’s Kaylan Stamey made the All-SPC girls tennis team.
* A.L. Brown’s Larry Scaggs and Zach Fesperman earned spots on the All-SPC cross country team.

Wingate’s Anna Atkinson and Mars Hill’s Danny Sanders are the SAC basketbal players of the week.
– College baseball
Wingate announced the signing of six baseball prospects ó pitcher Ross Barnett (Fuquay-Varina), outfielder Tripp Faulk (North Myrtle Beach, S.C.), third baseman Garrett Hix (Columbus, Ga.), catcher Taylor Honeycutt (Weddington), catcher Matthew Lee (Providence) and outfielder/pitcher Ethan Strickland (Triton).
