SALISBURY — Novant Health Rowan Medical Center Foundation has added four area residents to its board, which provides stewardship and oversight of its operations and activities.

The new members are Dr. Leighanne Dorton, Joyce Goodwin, Starling Johnson and Cory Menees.

They are replacing Dr. Joel Goodman, Nancy Linn and Trudy Thompson, who completed their terms, and Harold Earnhardt, who passed away in December.

Dorton is an otolaryngologist specializing in adult and pediatric otolaryngology at the Salisbury location of Charlotte Eye Ear Nose & Throat Associates P.A.

She graduated magna cum laude from Davidson College and attended medical school at the University of Kentucky School of Medicine in Lexington. Dorton completed both a general surgery internship and an otolaryngology residency at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

She is a member of the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy, North Carolina Medical Society and Triological Society. Dorton lives in Salisbury with her husband, Breck.

Goodwin is a retired assistant professor at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina. While at Winthrop, she served on former Gov. Richard Riley’s task force on early childhood education.

Goodwin received a bachelor of science from Meredith College in Raleigh and a master of science from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She completed additional postgraduate work at the University of South Carolina in Columbia.

Goodwin is a board member and treasurer of the Families First-NC Inc. in Salisbury and has served on the boards of the Community Care Clinic of Rowan County and Rowan County AIDS Task Force.

She is a member of the Medical Alliance and on the programs committee for the National Sports Media Association, as well as an active fundraiser for Catawba College’s Center for the Environment. Goodwin lives in Salisbury with her husband, Dr. Joel S. Goodwin.

Johnson is vice president for Johnson Concrete Co. in Salisbury.

She graduated cum laude from Duke University with a bachelor of arts in economics and sociology. Johnson serves on multiple boards, including those of Rowan County Chamber of Commerce and National Concrete Masonry Association. Johnson lives in Charlotte with her husband, Aaron.

Menees is a senior corporate counsel at Retail Business Services LLC, an independent Ahold Delhaize company that provides support services to Ahold USA and Delhaize America local brands.

Menees received a bachelor of arts and a doctorate of law from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He serves as an advisory member for Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation and lives in Salisbury with his wife, Katie, and their three children.
