SALISBURY — A woman says she was “jumped” Friday by her ex-boyfriend and his brother while she and her girlfriend were out fishing, according to Rowan County authorities.
The woman told a sheriff’s deputy that she and her friend were fishing on River Road in a spot where she used to fish with her ex-boyfriend, Arthur Still. She said he and his brother, Brandon Still, got out of a truck and began cursing at her and her girlfriend. The woman said Arthur Still grabbed her by the neck and began choking her.
The woman told the deputy Still threw her to the ground and she blacked out. The deputy noted in his report that the woman had bruises on her neck.
The woman also said her sister, who is the wife of Brandon Still, sat in the truck during the altercation. The woman said her sister told her not to fight back or she would just get hurt. When the woman came to, her cellphone was gone, and she thinks it might have been thrown into the water.
The woman’s girlfriend said she didn’t interfere because she feared for her life.
The woman said she cheated on her ex-boyfriend with her current girlfriend and she believes that’s why he was angry, the report said.
Arthur Michael Still, 32, was charged Saturday with felony assault by strangulation. Brandon Nelson Still, 29, was charged with misdemeanor assault on a female.
