KANNAPOLIS – Those Masons at Cannon Memorial Lodge are at it again. As a group of men that strive to do good in their community, the Freemasons did not let us down. They recently conducted a 6-week book drive, which was donated to the Kannapolis Charter Academy. The drive began with a goal of 50 books appropriate for the Charter school that houses grades K-7.
However, by the end of the month and a half drive, the Masons had renamed the effort the “1000-Book Drive,” as they raised and donated a little more than 1,000 books to the school. Brothers at the Lodge began competing to see who could donate more books to the worthy cause, which greatly benefited the second year school that is known for academic excellence within the city.
Cannon Memorial Lodge has long been recognized for its support of all things Kannapolis; so they are not new to helping the community. With a stellar 2017 and 2018, the Lodge exceeded expectations of involvement, and was honored to donate canned foods, school supplies, and monetary donations, in addition to presenting awards of appreciation to the KPD, KFD, and VFW, and conducting a community-wide awards night.
They are currently running a canned and non-perishable food drive that will be donated to the Cooperative Christian Ministries – which will be their second drive in less than 6 months, and are looking forward to their upcoming Casino Night community fundraiser on May 12. More information can be found at their website or Facebook page.
