CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. ó Stephen Curry scored 32 points and Davidson remained undefeated in the Southern Conference, beating Chattanooga 92-70 on Wednesday night.
The Wildcats (17-3, 10-0) extended their streak to 40 games in league play. Davidson is four wins away from tying the record of 44 consecutive wins, set by West Virginia between 1956-60.
Curry hit a 3-pointer as time expired to give the Wildcats a 41-28 halftime lead.
Davidson opened the second half with six straight points to claim a 47-28 advantage. Curry sparked the surge with a layup, an assist to Max Paulhus Gosselin and a jumper.
The Wildcats took a 81-56 lead with 5:02 left on a layup by Ben Allison, who finished with 12 points. Andrew Lovedale had 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Towson 69, William & Mary 56
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. ó Troy Franklin scored 18 points and six assists to help Towson beat William & Mary 69-56 on Wednesday night.
Jarrell Smith added 13 points for the Tigers (8-14, 3-7 Colonial Athletic Association). Former West Rowan star Junior Hairston scored eight points.
South Carolina 86, Vanderbilt 76.
COLUMBIA, S.C. ó South Carolina guard Devan Downey almost single-handedly changed the game’s momentum in the Gamecocks 86-76 victory. Downey scored 12 of his team-high 18 points in the last 11 minutes, helping the Gamecocks snap a five-game losing streak to Vanderbilt.
Florida 83, Georgia 57
GAINESVILLE, Fla. ó Nick Calathes stopped on his way to the locker room to sign a few scorecards for students, the only time he allowed himself to really enjoy the second triple-double of his college career.
Calathes had 20 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists, leading Florida (18-3, 5-1) to an 83-57 victory.
LSU 79, Tennessee 73
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. ó LSU’s Marcus Thornton more than made up for giving away last season’s game to Tennessee.Thornton scored 29 points to lead LSU to a 79-73 win.
Winthrop 56, UNC Asheville 49
ASHEVILLE ó Andre Jones scored 15 points to lead Winthrop in a 56-49 win over UNC Asheville.
Hofstra 80, UNC-Wilmington 78
WILMINGTON ó Arminas Urbutis hit a jumper as time expired to lift Hofstra to an 80-78 win over North Carolina-Wilmington.
Gardner-Webb 79, Coastal Carolina 74
CONWAY, S.C. ó Nate Blank scored 18 points, leading five Gardner-Webb players in double figures in a 79-74 win over Coastal Carolina.
