Hope Obama fails at all these things
Leonard Pitts’ Tuesday column, “Rush Limbaugh’s revealing statement,” revealed the hypocrisy of the liberal media. Yes, Limbaugh said, “I hope he fails.” So do I. The question is, fails at what?
Limbaugh and all conservatives hope he fails to turn this nation into the “USSA” (United Socialist States of America.). We hope he fails to ensure the unending slaughter of babies via abortion. We hope he fails to destroy our economy with higher taxes and higher deficit spending. We hope he fails to weaken our military in time of war. We hope he fails to harm our intelligence gathering ability in the midst of this war. What war? The one radical Islam awoke us to on 9/11. We hope he fails to block increased oil production, thus maintaining our dependence on oil from our enemies.
We hope he succeeds in strengthening this country by having a revelation that turns him into a conservative, leading him to do the right things.
Vast new spending, socialized medicine, higher taxes and maintaining the slaughter of babies via unrestricted abortion are not the right things. For eight years, Democrats not only hoped Bush failed, but did all they possibly could to make sure he failed, thereby surely giving aid and comfort to the enemy. Their current attacks on Limbaugh are thus pure hypocrisy.
To answer Deedee Wright’s charges of conservative racism, “Hogwash!” Racism has nothing to do with it. It is Obama’s far-left socialist ideology that we oppose. Perhaps I shouldn’t mention that he has not answered the request of a liberal Democrat lawyer from Pennsylvania that he prove he is actually a natural born citizen. There are strong indications that he is not, including his own grandmother’s recorded testimony.
It is President Obama’s starry eyed worshippers who “just don’t get it.”

Let’s pull together
I read with care and interest the Jan. 27 letter to the editor from Deedee Wright. I will personally judge President Obama by the content of his character and not by the color of his skin. It doesn’t matter whether you voted for or against Obama; he is now the leader of our country. Some will hope he fails because he is African American, and some will hope he fails because he is a Democrat.
In the current state of our economy, we need to all pull together and give him total support because he faces some of the toughest obstacles any president has faced in many decades. Calvin Coolidge once said “the strength of our nation depends on the character of the people.”
In the past decade I have had the opportunity to serve on several local boards and many committees with Ms. Wright and want to personally thank her for the contributions she has made to our community with her time and wisdom.

Time will tell
Why don’t you save all these comments sent to you about Editor Elizabeth Cook’s Jan. 25 column on Obama and the magic everyone thinks is going to occur, reprint them a year from now and then make the comments as to who is right or wrong about this situation and see how it chews?
