American Legion Auxiliary Tar Heels Girls State Selection

SALISBURY — The Kennedy-Hall American Legion Auxiliary Unit 106 has selected the students who will attend Tar Heel Girls State this year at Catawba College.
This year’s candidates from Rowan County are Sarah Roakes and Berkley Loblein.
Roakes is a cheerleader at West Rowan High School and has been involved with the student council, Crosby Scholars and Relay for Life. She is a member of theh National Technical Honor Society, among other groups.
Roakes is involved in many community service projects, including being secretary of Salisbury Youth Student Leaders. She has taken several mission trips with TWAM (Teens With a Mission), her church and Carolina Cross. Her parents are Suzanne and Rob Roakes.
Loblein is a varsity cheerleader, soccer player and swim team member at West Rowan High School and is involved with the student council, Relay for Life, Crosby Scholars and Big Brother Big Sister.
She has also been part of Honors and All-County Chorus as well as All-Region Cheer. Loeblein has been part of several plays at Norvell Theater and is active in community service through her church. Her parents are Doug and Janet Loblein.
