SALISBURY — Scout leaders in the Sapona (formerly Rowan) Boy Scout District are being asked to help update the database of awards and recognitions.

The awards database connected to Scout leaders was organized in 2011.

All current and former leaders’ participation and cooperation is being sought by committees working on the project.

“Please submit a list with the awards you have and, if possible, please provide the date (of the awards),” the committee says. “Please have all the leadership in your unit submit lists or fill one out with a summary of the awards held by all leaders for your unit.

“Take the time to list the knots on your uniform, or if you have wood badge beads, please list course number and indicate participant year or staff.”

The project also is looking to fill some gaps of award recipients from the annual Sapona (formerly Rowan) Adult Banquet. The years it is looking for are 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2014 in all award categories.

“If you are a Sapona Award recipient,” the committee says, “please send us your information, or if you do not remember the date, that’s fine. Just let us know what award you were presented with. Also, if you know someone else who is an award recipient, please send us their info.”

Other categories the project seeks information on include:

• Cubmaster of the Year: 1982-85, ’89, ’91, ’97, 2000, ’02, ’03, ’04, ’06, ’07 and ’08.

• Assistant Cubmaster of the Year: Before 1992, 1994-2008.

• Den Leader of the Year: 1989, ’91, ’97, ’98, 2000, ’02, ’03, ’04, ’06, ’07, ’08 and ’09.

• Webelos Leader of the Year: 1985, ’89, ’91, ’97, ’98, 2000, ’02, ’03 and ’04.

• Tiger Leader of the Year: 1988-2014.

• Scoutmaster of the Year: 1983, ’84, ’85, ’86, ’87, ’97, ’99, 2000, ’04, and ’07.

• Assistant Scoutmaster of the Year: 1989, ’91, ’97, ’98, 2000, ’02, ’03, ’04, ’06 and ’07.

• Female Scouter of the Year: 1989, ’91, ’94-2000.

• Male Scouter of the Year: 1989, ’91, ’97-2000, ’02, ’03, ’04, ’06, and ’07.

• District Award of Merit: 1981-86, ’89, ’97, 2000, ’02, ’03, ’04, ’06, ’07, ’08, ’11, ’12, and ’14.
