You are invited to ‘Ramble through Rowan’
“A Ramble Through Rowan” is a free film series that will historically explore and discuss the phenomena of Rowan County from colonial times to the present day.
The series will be shown at Rufty-Holmes Senior Center, 1120 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. From 10-11 a.m. Tuesdays, May 8 through June 19.
May 8, 15, 22, 29 and June 5, 12 and 19.

‘Ramble through Rowan” is open to the public. Folks are encouraged to register at the Center as there are no membership fees, but is not mandatory.

Gentle yoga at Cauble Creek
Gail Poulton will teach an hour of gentle yoga at the vineyard on Cauble Creek Road, off Mooresville Road, SR 150 west of Salisbury. Enjoy a relaxing class followed by a glass of Cauble Creek wine Sunday from 3-5 pm. To register, email sales@caublecreekvineyard or call 704-633-1137.

Annual Scrabble Scramble is Friday
The annual Scrabble Scramble is at 6 p.m. Friday, held at Trinity Oaks and benefiting Rowan County Literacy Council.
Competitors will participate in three lively rounds of team Scrabble competition. Raffle tickets for a variety of prizes will be available for purchase throughout the evening. Tickets are $30 for an individual or $300 for a table of up to 10 players. Participants may create their own teams or request to be assigned to a team. KHA hosts Dr. Gary Freeze
KANNAPOLIS — Kannapolis History Associates hosts an evening with Dr. Gary Freeze at 7 p.m. Monday, May 7 at the A. L. Brown High School social room, 415 E. First St.
Dr. Freeze, professor of history and american cultural studies at Catawba College, presents “Whence and Whyeth the Piedmont: Inventing our Region.”
Dr. Freeze, who recently received Professor of the Year award at Catawba, will present results of his research on how and when the Piedmont Region came about and what geographical areas make up the Piedmont.

Quilter’s Guild hosts show
The Salisbury Rowan Quilter’s Guild will host its biannual quilt show Friday and Saturday at the First Baptist Church Ministries Center at 223 N. Fulton St.
With about 150 quilts, the show will also feature a tea room decorated in a wedding theme with vintage linens, tea pots and china tea cup and will offer lunch and dessert.
On Saturday at 2:30 p.m. there will be a special presentation of quilts to area veterans.
The vendor mall offers a variety of items for quilters and sewers. The boutique area features handmade gift items including hand bags, tote bags, table runners, place mats and more.
There will also be a Grandma’s Attic with fabric, notions, books, tools, trims, buttons and dozens of other items at bargain prices.
Show hours are Friday, 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Admission $7.
