STATESVILLE ó East Rowan’s girls (14-4, 16-7) defeated West Iredell 49-31 on Wednesday night, which was expected. And while the East boys weren’t favored, Coach Greg McKenzie expected more than he got in a 68-41 loss.
East went scoreless in the second quarter and trailed 27-8 at halftime.
“We made the game of basketball pretty difficult,” said McKenzie, whose Mustangs (7-11, 7-15) will play host to a play-in game Friday night against North Iredell.
