Blotter: Employee fired after stealing money from convenience store

SALISBURY — A Salisbury man was fired and issued a citation for larceny after a manager at a local convenience store caught him on store surveillance video stealing money, according to the Salisbury Police Department.

Police issued a citation to Zachary Gunter, 21, on Saturday.

The theft occurred Thursday at Pop Shoppe West, 1831 W. Innes St. According to a police report, Gunter took a total of $52.

He took the money from the register and put it into his pocket on numerous occasions on May 10, police said.

In other Salisbury police reports:

• A woman on Friday reported a stolen firearm in the 200 block of East Bank Street.

• A man reported three to four shots were fired at a vehicle and nearby house in the 100 block of West Miller Street and North Church.

• First Bank reported fraud between April 24 to Friday at 1525 S. Jake Alexander Blvd.

• A man on Friday reported an assault in the 900 block of South Jake Alexander Boulevard.

• A man and woman were seen passed out Saturday inside a vehicle in the McDonald’s parking lot, 929 W. Jake Alexander Blvd. The man was in possession of narcotics.

• A woman on Saturday said someone took items from her vehicle in the 1300 block of East Colonial Drive.

• A 15-year-old on Saturday reported an assault in the 600 block of Park Avenue.

• Walmart reported Saturday that someone obtained property by false pretenses at 323 S. Arlington St.

• A woman on Sunday reported items stolen from her vehicle in the 300 block of East Council Street.

• A man on Sunday reported an assault in the 600 block of Park Avenue.

• McLane Food Service reported Sunday that about $500 worth of steaks, bacon and other foods were stolen from a truck when the driver slept overnight near the Pizza Hut parking lot, 1030 E. Innes St.

• A man reported Sunday that two other men entered a vehicle through an unlocked door but nothing was taken in the 300 block of Ackert Avenue.

• A woman reported Sunday that someone stole her Mini Cooper from her yard in the 100 block of West Henderson Street.

• A woman reported Sunday that three juveniles were seen around her car and one of them was inside it while it was parked in the 900 block of Poplar Street.

• A man on Sunday reported an attempted larceny from a vehicle in the 1000 block of East Innes Street.

• A woman on Sunday reported a domestic assault in the 300 block of Faith Road.

• A woman on Monday reported the theft of items from her vehicle in the 1200 block of Arden Road.

• Kya Ciera Davis, 17, was charged Friday with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance Schedule VI in the 500 block of Lincolnton Road.

• Brandy Nicole Goodman, 37, was charged Friday with misdemeanor larceny in the 1000 block of Newsome Road.

• Jesse Allen Tart, 40, was charged Friday with misdemeanor larceny in the 100 block of Newsome Road.

• Matthew Lewis Pruitt, 41, was charged Saturday with felony obtaining property by false pretenses while at Walmart.

• Tai Alexander Mosley, 19, was charged Sunday with felony assault inflicting serious bodily injury in the 200 block of Rowan Mill Road.

In Rowan County Sheriff’s Office reports:

• A woman on Thursday reported a break-in in the 7500 block of Therrell Road, Kannapolis.

• A woman on Thursday reported an assault in the 3100 block of West N.C. 152, China Grove.

• A man on Thursday said a Stihl backpack blower was stolen in the 4800 block of Bringle Ferry Raod.

• Terry Lynn Correll, 61, was charged Thursday with misuse of the 911 emergency system after calling four times in the 900 block of Reid Road, Rockwell.

• Madison McKenzie Rivenbark, 26, was charged Thursday with misdemeanor child abuse in the 1000 block of Raven Brook Way.

• Christopher Richard Stalcup, 36, was charged Thursday with misdemeanor assault on a female in the 3100 block of West N.C. 152, China Grove.

• Timothy Wilson Poole, 56, was charged Thursday with misdemeanor simple assault while at the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office.
