The state Department of Transportation will host a public meeting Tuesday on the proposed widening of N.C. 150 west of Salisbury.

The meeting will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Salisbury Civic Center, 315 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave.

DOT is proposing to widen the highway from Airport Road to west of Grants Creek with a four-lane, median-divided highway along with other improvements to reduce congestion and improve safety.

The department is hosting the meeting to provide information on the project and gather public input on the proposed design.

There will not be a formal presentation, but DOT representatives will display maps and be available to answer questions and take comments.

Written comments or questions can also be submitted at the meeting or later by June 15.

Project maps are available online at http://www.ncdot.gov/projects/publicmeetings/.
