The Small Business Center at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is offering free seminars for small business.
– Employment Law: What Small Business Owners Need to Know.
Employment laws have changed through the years. Find out the latest at this free seminar designed especially for new business owners. Find out how to avoid the pitfalls that can be common in small businesses.
This course is Monday, March 16, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Cabarrus Business & Technology Center
– Funding Your Business.
You’ve heard that lenders are tightening the purse strings in today’s tough economic times. But it’s still possible to get funding for your business. Find out the type of funding available for small businesses and what steps you need to take now to secure it. Hear what lenders want every small business owner to know and what they’re doing to make sure you can get the funding you need.
This course is Thursday, March 19, from 9 a.m.-10:30 a.m. at the Bank of the Carolinas in Concord.

Magazine picks First Bank CEO as Business Leader of the Year
TROY ó First Bank President and CEO Jerry Ocheltree was named 2008 Financial Services Business Leader of the Year Feb. 17 as part of the Triad Hall of Fame awards sponsored by Business Leader magazine.
Ocheltree became president and chief executive officer in January 2007.
