CLEVELAND ó Reports from Freightliner employees leaving their first-shift jobs today say the company has announced another round of layoffs to take effect in May.
A Freightliner spokesman in Portland, Ore., said the company was planning to issue a statement later today.
Callers to the Post said up to 420 additional layoffs will occur at the Cleveland truck plant in 60 days.
The Cleveland plant already had announced plans to shut down its second shift next Friday and lay off 1,290 employees.
Union officials with United Auto Workers Local 3520 could not be reached for comment.
